After winning just four games on an 11 game road trip, the Marlins fell to the Phillies 6-5 on Tuesday night.
Jimmy Rollins led off the game with a single, and Ryan Howard and Marlon Byrd both drove in runs to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead over Anthony DeSclafani.
Facing former Marlin A.J. Burnett, the Marlins were able to tie the game in the bottom of the first. Casey McGehee drove in a run with a single to center field, and Marcell Ozuna walked with two outs to tie the game at two.
Miami took the lead in the bottom of the third on a Garrett Jones double to right field that scored Giancarlo Stanton, who walked to open the inning.
Despite scoring early, the Phillies added a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, punctuated by a John Mayberry pinch hit single to left field in the top of the sixth.
In five and a third innings, Anthony DeSclafani gave up five runs and walked one while striking out a pair.
Brad Hand gave up a run in two thirds off an inning, but Randy Wolf pitched two scoreless innings in relief and A.J. Ramos added a scoreless inning after DeSclafani's pitch count quickly rose.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia drove in a run against Mike Adams in the eighth to make it a 6-4 contest, but like on several other occasions, couldn't put together a rally. Miami went 3-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
Miami scored a run in the ninth against Jonathan Papelbon, but couldn't rally late.
