Miami Marlins vs. Washington Nationals: Game 14 Thread and Ichthyomancy

The Miami Marlins will head home looking to snap a seven-game skid. Their first crack will come against a team that contributed to the losses, the Washington Nationals.

The Miami Marlins and the Washington Nationals get to run back their second-week matchups, except this time Miami will be the host team as the Fish host the Nats for a three-game set. Miami is looking to snap a seven-game losing streak and will send Brad Hand to the mound versus Jordan Zimmermann in a rematch from the second game of last week's series.

Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA FIP ERA MARLINS nationals ERA FIP PROJ ERA
4.73 4.82 3.24 Hand Zimmermann 8.10 5.84 3.41

One of these guys is not that good at Major League Baseball, but if you didn't know Zimmermann from, well, the other Zimmerman on the Nationals, you might think it was him. Hand isn't particularly good, and he struggled through 3 1/3 innings last week against the Nats before the bullpen really struggled through the remaining 4 2/3 innings. Zimmermann has obviously had problems in his two starts as well, as he has only pitched 6 2/3 innings thus far this season.

Lineup

Today's Lineups

WASHINGTON NATIONALS MIAMI MARLINS
Anthony Rendon - 3B Christian Yelich - CF
Kevin Frandsen - LF Derek Dietrich - 2B
Jayson Werth - RF Giancarlo Stanton - RF
Bryce Harper - CF Garrett Jones - 1B
Ian Desmond - SS Jeff Mathis - 3B
Tyler Moore - 1B Jarrod Saltalamacchia - C
Danny Espinosa - 2B Reed Johnson - LF
Sandy Leon - C Adeiny Hechavarria - SS
Jordan Zimmermann - P Brad Hand - P

The Marlins will lead off Christian Yelich and Derek Dietrich is batting second, meaning all is almost right with the world in this matchup. Marcell Ozuna will sit this one out, as he nurses his injured foot from yesterday's incidental foul ball.

The Nationals' lineup looks pretty decent, even without the still-injured Ryan Zimmerman.

Notes

- I'll be here for a few hours before going to work for an overnight shift. Hope to see everyone excited for a...you know what, I'm not going to #MJIJ it here.

- Have you checked the latest updated Ichthyomancy standings? Another week passed by and we have a new leader atop the board! Congrats to dgriot for snagging the two-week lead with 19 points! Three other players are at double-digits, with a few more nipping at the heels. Jigokusabre, the defending champion, is still holding strong at 15 points, so there's no sleeping on this competition. If you miss picks, you'll miss out on the Ichthyomancy championship! Check the top five here, and see the full leaderboard here.

- How can you get in on the action now before the leaders pull far ahead? Read the rules for entering your picks here (please read the rules, otherwise your picks won't count). Then start placing your picks before the start of the game! It's that easy!
