Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies: Game 11 Thread and Ichthyomancy

The Miami Marlins visit the Philadelphia Phillies after a three-game set against the Washington Nationals resulted in an ugly sweep. The Fish will turn to Jose Fernandez versus former Marlin A.J. Burnett.

Mike Ehrmann

The Miami Marlins are looking to shake the ugly cobwebs of a three-game beatdown at the hands of the Washington Nationals by facing a team a little closer to their level: the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies currently sit in last place in the NL East, but both teams figure to be fighting to avoid the cellar of the division all season long, and tonight begins that first test. The good news for Miami is that Jose Fernandez is on the mound.

Pitching Matchup
PROJ ERA FIP ERA MARLINS Phillies ERA FIP PROJ ERA
--- --- 0.71 Fernandez Burnett 3.86 --- ---

No projections due to FanGraphs being down at the time of writing, but it does not take a projection to figure out that Jose Fernandez is a spectacular pitcher of baseballs. Meanwhile, A.J. Burnett returns to Miami for another visit after leaving in 2005. It remains interesting to me that Burnett chose Philadelphia over an actual contending ballclub at all.

Lineup
PROJ WOBA WOBA MARLINS Phillies WOBA PROJ WOBA
--- --- Christian Yelich Tony Gwynn Jr. --- ---

--- --- Adeiny Hechavarria Cody Asche --- ---

Adeiny Hechavarria is not leading off. All is right with the world. Christian Yelich and Marcell Ozuna at the top of the lineup is the only "traditional" way to do this Marlins roster.

Remember when you might have been afraid of this Phillies lineup with a 2-3-4 combo of Rollins - Utley - Howard? Peppridge Farm remembers.

Notes

- I'll be here for parts of the early portion of the game and return for the recap!

Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Phillies 4-1
