Miami added Martin Prado on Friday afternoon, however the organization's intentions with regard to where he would play were unclear. Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald speculated the Marlins wanted Prado to be their starting third baseman, and that a Casey McGehee trade may be imminent. According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the Marlins have completed a deal that will send McGehee to San Francisco.

McGehee, who spent 2013 in Japan before returning to be Miami's third baseman, got off to a quick offensive start in 2014. However, he batted just .243 after the All-Star break, which likely gave the Marlins a reason to doubt his potential moving forward.
Although it is unclear who the Marlins will receive in return, Juan C. Rodriguez of The Sun-Sentinel notes minor league pitching will be sent to Miami.
