The Miami Marlins have one of the last few opportunities to feature Jose Fernandez this season. The Fish return to Miami and will face the Washington Nationals in a three-game series, and Fernandez will be the first to face off against the Nats. The pleasure of facing him in a pitching duel will go to Dan Haren.
Pitching Matchup
Proj Win% | Proj ERA | FIP | ERA | Marlins | Nationals | ERA | FIP | Proj ERA | Proj Win% |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
.572 | 3.37 | 2.69 | 2.33 | Fernandez | Haren | 5.02 | 4.24 | 4.16 | .477 |
Dan Haren has been better since the second half. Jose Fernandez has been unhittable since the second half. This should be a fun night.
Lineup
Order | Player | Proj wOBA vs. RHP |
---|---|---|
1 | Chris Coghlan | .315 |
2 | Donovan Solano | .278 |
3 | Christian Yelich | .332 |
4 | Giancarlo Stanton | .389 |
5 | Logan Morrison | .350 |
6 | Placido Polanco | .275 |
7 | Adeiny Hechavarria | .270 |
8 | Jeff Mathis | .257 |
9 | Pitcher | --- |
The Marlins will give Christian Yelich his first shot at the center field position, with Chris Coghlan taking over a familiar spot in left field. This should be a good test for the rookie, who has the athleticism, if not the arm strength, to be highly successful in center.
Notes
- What a shame. I will get a chance to listen to this one on the radio, but because I am in the Washington area, I actually won't be able to watch the game, meaning I'll sadly miss visualizing a Fernandez start.
Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Nationals 4-2
