The Miami Marlins did not have much to celebrate about this one tonight versus the Philadelphia Phillies. Facing one of the toughest pitchers in the game in Cliff Lee, Sam Dyson had a tough task matching his opponent, and he did not even come close. Dyson lasted just 2 2/3 innings, as he gave up an early run and was hammered in the third inning for six runs. What started as a fairly innocuous first inning in which the Fish barely got away with just one run, Dyson's night fell apart after Chase Utley homered to kick things off. He was able to get to two outs, but three singles and two walks later, Dyson was knocked out of the game by his opponent Lee. Lee's single drove in the sixth run of the inning and signaled the end of the night.

The bullpen suffered a similar fate, led by Chris Hatcher, who simply has not proven Major League-worthy so far. Hatcher struck out three and walked just one, but he too gave up a homer to Darin Ruf and, embarrassingly, was also the victim of a Cliff Lee. Lee tripled home a run in the fifth inning as part of a two-run frame. The Marlins finished the night giving up 12 run, 11 of which were assigned to those two pitchers.

Meanwhile, the offense was manhandled by Lee. Somehow the Fish mustered two run in eight hits, but along the way, the lefty struck out 14 batters and walked none in one of his top performances of the season. The Marlins looked inept in all aspects of the game, and the Fish took the easy loss 12-2.
