It has been some time since the Miami Marlins and Cleveland Indians have battled, but it should be an interesting series between a pseudo-competitive franchise facing a club just trying to get the kinks worked on a wonky, young roster. It does not help that Cleveland is riding a nice winning streak into Miami as well.
Of course, the first time in a long time that the Marlins and Indians face off, they play a three-game set in Miami while I live an hour and a half from Cleveland. Sigh.
Pitching Matchup
Proj Win% | Proj ERA | FIP | ERA | Marlins | Indians | ERA | FIP | Proj ERA | Proj Win% |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
.548 | 3.56 | 2.95 | 2.71 | Fernandez | Jimenez | 4.17 | 4.52 | 4.64 | .425 |
If I were an Indians fan, I'd be afraid every time Ubaldo Jimenez took the pitching mound. How the mighty have fallen; a guy who never gave up home runs in Coors Field has turned into a fly ball pitcher who lets them leave the yard all day in Progressive Field.
Oh, and also, if I were an Indians fan, I'd be afraid of Jose Fernandez. Very afraid.
Lineup
Order | Player | Proj wOBA vs. RHP |
---|---|---|
1 | Christian Yelich | --- |
2 | Ed Lucas | --- |
3 | Giancarlo Stanton | .394 |
4 | Logan Morrison | .355 |
5 | Donovan Solano | .270 |
6 | Adeiny Hechavarria | .275 |
7 | Jake Marisnick | --- |
8 | Jeff Mathis | .255 |
9 | Pitcher | --- |
This lineup isn't very good, but it at least has Adeiny Hechavarria far away from the leadoff spot and Christian Yelich, likely one of the team's three best hitters, in an important position at leadoff.
Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Indians 4-0
