Despite a valiant late effort, New Orleans lost to Tucson on Friday by just one run. Brad Hand got off to a rough start and the Zephyrs were facing a large deficit until they scored six runs in the last four innings to bring the game to within one. New Orleans is now an even 60-60 overall during this roller coaster season.
Double-A: Jacksonville Suns
L 2-5 @ Pensacola Blue Wahoos

Bryan Evans, SP: 5 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
Jacksonville fell by three runs on Friday, losing 2-5 in Pensacola, Florida. Mark Canha's two doubles weren't enough, as Suns starting pitcher Bryan Evans had an abysmal five innings. Jacksonville falls to 61-53 with the loss.
High Class A: Jupiter Hammerheads
W 3-2 vs. Palm Beach Cardinals

Wilfredo Gimenez's clutch pinch-hit single in the bottom of the ninth drove in Alfredo Lopez and sent Jupiter fans home happy on Friday night. Brent Keys reached all four of his plate appearances, raising his league-leading on-base percentage to a cool .430. He has reached base two times or more in five of his last six games.
Low Class A: Greensboro Grasshoppers
L 4-5 vs. Augusta GreenJackets

The dynamic duo of Jesus Solorzano and Juancito Martinez that provided problems for NY-PL pitchers all of last season both homered on Friday, but Jupiter still fell to Augusta. Chad James labored through six rough innings, but on the bright side of things, Mason Hope came on in relief in pitched three scoreless frames. Hope has not allowed single earned run in his last two relief appearances after being yanked out of the Hoppers starting rotation.
Short-Season: Batavia Muckdogs
L 5-8 vs. Aberdeen IronBirds

Max Garner, SP: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
2013 18th round pick out of Baylor University, Max Garner looked a little rough around the edges on Friday in Batavia. In fact, three out of the five Batavia pitchers that saw action today against Aberdeen struggled to quell the IronBirds lineup. Batavia falls to 25-23, one game behind Aberdeen, with the loss.
Rookie: GCL Marlins
L 2-9 @ GCL Cardinals
David Cruz, C: 2-for-4, HR (2), 2 RBI
Gabriel Castellanos, SP: 1 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
The GCL Marlins gave up nine runs in the first two innings and never made it back from that deficit. Gabriel Castellanos got lit up by Oscar Mercado and the other Cardinals hitters. The Marlins are now 16-27 on the season, if that means anything.
