W 3-2 @ Albuquerque Isotopes
Jake Smolinski, LF: 2-for-4, 2B, HR (8), RBI
Brian Flynn, SP: 7 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
Despite Chris Hatcher almost blowing the game in the ninth inning, New Orleans still managed to squeak out a 3-2 win over the Isotopes on Sunday. New Orleans improves to 53-56 with the victory.
Double-A: Jacksonville Suns
W 3-0 vs. Chattanooga Lookouts
Mark Canha, 1B: 1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI
Adam Conley, SP: 6 IP, 8 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
Arquimedes Caminero, RP: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, SV (3)
Mark Canha and the Suns provided just enough offense for the Jacksonville pitching staff to win on Sunday. Adam Conley gave up eight hits, but by not allowing any walks, he was able to get out of every sticky situation he was in. Arquimedes Caminero came on in relief to pick up his third save with Jacksonville.
High Class A: Jupiter Hammerheads
W 10-8 @ Dunedin Blue Jays
Yordy Cabrera, DH: 3-for-5, HR (1), 4 RBI
Ryan Fisher, 3B: 2-for-4, 2B, BB
Josh Hodges, SP: 5.1 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Nick Wittgren, RP: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, SV (20)
Jupiter took down Dunedin in a 10-8 slugfest. Yordy Cabrera hit his first ever FSL home run and Ryan Fisher reached base three ties in the victory. Nick Wittgren pitched a scoreless ninth to tally his twentieth save.
Low Class A: Greensboro Grasshoppers
W 8-3 @ Charleston River Dogs
Juancito Martinez, CF: 4-for-5, 3B, HR (1), 2 RBI
Colin Moran, 3B: 1-for-5, RBI
Austin Brice, SP: 5 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 8 K
Blake Logan, RP: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, SV (10)
Greensboro improved to 50-54 with a 8-3 win over Charleston on Sunday. Juancito Martinez had four hits, just falling a double short of hitting for the cycle. Martinez has really struggled in the South Atlantic League this year, so it would be nice to see him finish the season strong and starting hitting the ball harder.
Short-Season: Batavia Muckdogs
W 10-5 vs. State College Spikes
Austin Dean, LF: 1-for-5, 3B, 2 RBI
Michael Vaughn, C: 3-for-5, 2 RBI
Trevor Williams, SP: 3 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Batavia picked up a much needed 10-5 win over State College, thanks to their entire lineup syncing together and hitting the ball. Austin Dean hit his sixth triple of the year and Michael Vaughn had three hits. Vaughn, not the character on Alias or the politician in Maryland, was drafted in the 14th round of the 2013 draft out of Fresno Pacific.
