Nathan Eovaldi made his season debut in Arizona, returning from shoulder soreness that left him on the sidelines for three months. He came back flashing excellent stuff, including a mid-90s fastball heat that he ran up to 98 miles per hour.

Miami took an early lead in the fourth thanks to a run-scoring Derek Dietrich triple and Adeiny Hechavarria single. Eovaldi couldn't hold the lead in the bottom of the inning, however. His lone mistake of the night resulted in a game-tying home run by Martin Prado.

After pounding seven hits off Diamondbacks starter Randall Delgado, the Marlins offense grew quiet as the night progressed. Delgado settled into a nice groove, getting six strikeouts, and walking no batters in seven innings pitched.

Adeiny Hechavarria hit a no-out double to left-field, but mistakenly tried to stretch into a triple. He was thrown out in the attempt. He likely would have scored from the subsequent two fly-outs by Rob Brantly and Jordan Brown.

The game eventually reached the ninth inning, where the Marlins brought in reliever Chad Qualls, hoping to take the game to extra innings. Two pitches later, the game was over. Paul Goldschmidt hammered a massive walk-off home run to center field.

The Marlins will send out Jose Fernandez against Trevor Cahill tomorrow at 3:40 PM EST. A victory will secure another series win for the Fish.
