The Miami Marlins have a chance at a series victory versus the best team in the majors thus far this season, the St. Louis Cardinals.
I did not expect to be able to say that, but the Fish squeezed out one win behind Jose Fernandez and fell a bit short last night. Now they send "ace" Ricky Nolasco to the mound versus Tyler Lyons of the Cards.
Pitching Matchup
Proj Win% | Proj ERA | FIP | ERA | Marlins | Cardinals | ERA | FIP | Proj ERA | Proj Win% |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
.454 | 4.37 | 3.64 | 3.80 | Nolasco | Lyons | 3.51 | 4.07 | 4.99 | .391 |
Ricky Nolasco is revived as a pitcher, but is also on the trading block now that the midseason mark is almost here. Tyler Lyons is a minor leaguer who thrives on control and ground balls, which actually fits perfectly with the St. Louis model.
Lineup

Oh wonderful, when we finally get a lefty starter, Justin Ruggiano makes it into the lineup! Unfortunately, he replaces Marcell Ozuna, who is also right-handed and can take advantage of the lefty starter. Meanwhile, Juan Pierre is still leading off!

Notes
- I'll be posting up the Ichthy for the last three weeks later in the evening.
- I will not be around for today's game due to studying reasons. Fish Stripers, keep the seat warm!
