Triple-A: New Orleans Zephyrs
L 3-7 vs. Omaha Storm Chasers
Kevin Mattison, CF: 2-for-5, 2 R, HR, 2 SO
Ben Lasater, 1B: 0-for-4, 3 SO
A.J. Battisto, SP: 5.0 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 5 ER, BB, SO, HR
Kevin Kouzmanoff is currently hitting .267/.290/.333 in eight gamesafter returning from the disabled list. If he can raise his batting line, he might see playing time in Miami to replace the struggling Placido Polanco.
Double-A: Jacksonville Suns
L 1-4 vs. Birmingham Barons
Christian Yelich, DH: 0-for-4, 3 SO
Adam Conley, SP: 4.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 8 SO, 2 HR
Arquimedes Caminero, RP: 1.0 IP, SO
Michael Brady, RP: 1.0 IP, SO
Adam Conley possessed solid stuff yesterday, but suffered from a loss of command in the third inning. He gave up two singles, two doubles, and a home run in quick succession. He then proceeded to strike out the side.
His season ERA rose to 4.72, although like yesterday, his peripherals are solid. Conley has a 2.1 BB/9 and a 7.9 SO/9.
Christian Yelich has fallen into a slump recently, hitting .119/.140/.190 in the past ten games. The one walk to 14 strikeouts over that period is unusual for him.
High Class A: Jupiter Hammerheads
No game scheduled
Low Class A: Greensboro Grasshoppers
W 3-0 @ West Virginia Power
Anthony Gomez, 2B: 1-for-3, 2B, BB
Ramon Del Orbe. SP: 5.0 IP, H, 2 BB, 2 SO
A two-way player in high school, Stetson Allie failed miserably in the minors as a pitcher, so the Pirates converted him back to a hitter. He is currently batting .340/.422/.633 for the Power, but he struck out twice last night as part of a hit-less game. Another interesting Pirates prospect, Josh Bell, doubled and singled.
