The Miami Marlins are off for a ten-game road trip that begins in Philadelphia for four games against the Phillies. Both the Marlins and Phillies have seen better times than their work this April, so both are trying to get a fresh start in the month of May. It will be Alex Sanabia versus Kyle Kendrick in this first game.

Alex Sanabia continues to confuse everyone. His performance so far this year has been bad, and his peripherals are even worse. Sanabia still has more walks than strikeouts, for example. Then again, that 10.9 percent swinging strike rate has to have Marlins fans interested. If Sanabia can just starting hitting the strike zone on pitches a little more often, he may become a serviceable player.
Kyle Kendrick does very well against the Marlins regularly. He has a 4.22 career ERA with a 12,2 percent strikeout rate, but he has a 3.71 ERA and 15.6 percent strikeout rate against Marlins hitters for his career. Of course, that does not mean anything, but it doesn't make Marlins fans feel better.

The Marlins' lineup still looks awful (Greg Dobbs is batting cleanup!), but at least it received one bad hitter back, as Adeiny Hechavarria returns to the lineup from his DL stint. Hechavarria is a welcome re-addition, if only for his defense, at shortstop.
