The Miami Marlins struggled to score runs against Cincinnati Reds starter Homer Bailey, as the Marlins struck out 10 times and did not draw a walk from the Reds starter. Meanwhile, Ricky Nolasco and the Fish struggled in one single inning and allowed the game to blow wide open.

If you looked at Nolasco's start without the runs involved, you would not think much of it. He struck out five batters and walked two while also hitting another batter. But unfortunately for Nolasco, three of his seven hits allowed and all three free bases came in the second inning, when he gave up five of the Reds' six runs. The worst part about the outburst is that Nolasco allowed all of the runs with two outs, as a one-out single by Ryan Hanigan was followed by a sacrifice bunt by Bailey. Nolasco then loaded the bases with a hit-by-pitch and a single by Zack Cozart and walked in two of the runs before allowing the big Xavier Paul double.

Meanwhile, the Marlins collected a decent amount of hits, totaling six hits and having a few chances at runners in scoring position. Unfortunately, despite good outings by Derek Dietrich and Adeiny Hechavarria, the Marlins were unable to squeeze out more than two runs against Bailey, who went the distance.
