Miami Marlins, Minnesota Twins game postponed due to inclement weather

The Miami Marlins and Minnesota Twins will not get to play tonight because of heavy snow. The teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow.

This is what is stopping the Marlins from playing tonight against the Minnesota Twins. Well, more of this, certainly.

The Miami Marlins were planning on playing their first game at Target Field tonight versus the Minnesota Twins. That plan has been squashed by inclement weather, as the Marlins-Twins game has postponed for tomorrow afternoon. A winter storm warning was put into effect, with an estimated 80-100 percent chance of rain and snow tonight.

The Twins have had this happen four times in the past week already, as much of the Twins - New York Mets series was postponed due to similar weather. The Marlins were looking forward to cold weather and their first game at Target Field since the stadium opened in 2010. Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco, who would have taken the hill tonight, said he was preparing for the cold weather with the following:

"A lot of Hot Stuff on the arm -- that cream that just keeps your arm loose," Nolasco said. "You're going to have to lube that up nice and thick."

Most folks were promptly disgusted.

This also would have marked manager Mike Redmond's return to Minnesota, as he played backup catcher for the team for five seasons after he left Miami in 2004.

The Fish will play a double-header tomorrow, with the first game being the normally scheduled 2:10 pm EST start. The makeup will be scheduled for 8:10 pm EST tomorrow. Because of the doubleheader, you know we're going to see this month's Double Ichthy Points games tomorrow, so get your picks ready!
