Miami Marlins reassign third-base coach Jose Espada - Sun Sentinel
The long-time leader of Miami's hot corner has been promoted (demoted?) to be the new manager of the Triple A affiliate in Jupiter for the 2014 season.
Marlins Stadium, FAU to host bowls - Sun Sentinel
Starting in 2014, success will start to appear at Marlins Stadium. No, Adeiny Hechavarria won't turn into the second coming of Ozzie Smith and lead the Marlins to multiple titles but the stadium will play host to a new series of bowl games between six conferences (American Athletic Conference (son of the now departed Big East), Conference USA, Mid-American Conference, Mountain West Conference and Sun Belt Conference).
While you continue to harken back to the old days of the '97 or '03 seasons, take your head out of the gutter and take a glance at some of the more notable Marlins alumni who are currently trying to lead their current team to World Series gold.
While the great Michael Jong is recapping the season of each individual Marlins player, the less insane folks over at Marlin Maniac are reviewing the 2013 season position-by-position. In one of the more ridiculous stories of the 2013 offseason, veteran broadcaster and former big leaguer Steve Lyons sent out a tweet during a weekend between the Braves and Dodgers in which he stated that a solo shot by former Marlin Hanley Ramirez was detrimental to his team. While Lyons tried to give a solid reasoning behind his statement, Baseball Nation editor Rob Neyer basically shoots down those statements in this piece.
Michael Wacha Thinks Throwing Inside is Stupid | FanGraphs Baseball
While he hasn't officially said the above statement, Dave Cameron uses reasoning and some pretty cool and colorful graphs to prove his point of Wacha's inability to throw on the inside.

On this day in team history, third baseman Mike Lowell shook off his month-long rust and hit a pinch-hit home run in the top of the 11th inning, sending the Marlins to a 9-8 win in Game 1 of the 2003 NLCS against the Chicago Cubs.
