The Miami Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers square off in the first of a four-game set this week, and if the last series between the two is any indication, we should be in for a crazy series in which I will tune out in at least one of the games, only to see it go 20 innings and end in a 15-14 loss. Of course, that game might very well be today's afternoon showdown on Labor Day, as while I entertain folks on vacation, the Marlins and Brewers will battle.
Pitching Matchup
Proj Win% | Proj ERA | FIP | ERA | Marlins | Brewers | ERA | FIP | Proj ERA | Proj Win% |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
--- | --- | 4.10 | 5.78 | Nolasco | Fiers | 2.85 | 2.60 | --- | --- |
Mike Fiers seems to be the real deal for the Brewers. Ricky Nolasco? He is not the real deal. I don't like this matchup.
Lineup
Order | Player | Proj wOBA vs. RHP |
---|---|---|
1 | Gorkys Hernandez | .260 |
2 | Donovan Solano | .275 |
3 | Jose Reyes | .340 |
4 | Giancarlo Stanton | .379 |
5 | Carlos Lee | .324 |
6 | Justin Ruggiano | .324 |
7 | Rob Brantly | --- |
8 | Donnie Murphy | .275 |
The Marlins have faced righties in four-straight games, so manager Ozzie Guillen figured he would run out the lefty lineup versus the righty Fiers today. The problem is that he is running the lineup in the exact order, including moving a good hitter like Ruggiano down in the lineup in favor of Solano and Gorkys Hernandez. Thanks, Ozzie, that's terrible.
