Hero of the Game: M Buehrle (.519)

Goat of the Game: O Infante (-.121)

Play of the Game: Logan Morrison singled to left. Carlos Lee scored.

Thursday afternoon was a hot one and both pitchers worked quickly with a wide strike zone in temperatures over 100 degrees. Mark Buehrle went 7 2/3 giving up six hits and not allowing a run. For the Brewers, Fiers pitched 7 1/3 giving up 7 hits and 2 runs.

Miami's scoring would start in the 4th when Carlos Lee led off the inning with a double. Lomo followed with a single to left. Lee got a great read on the ball and was able to score easily, even with his slow speed.

The score remained the same until the top of the seventh when Reyes opened with a single to left. Hanley then grounded into a fielders choice before Carlos Lee singled to center. Hanley advanced to third. On a 3-0 count, Lomo grounded into a fielders choice with Lee out at second. The ball being bobbled on the transfer avoided the double play. Hanley scored as a result making the score 2-0. Ruggiano grounded out to end the inning.

In the top of the ninth, Infante led off with a ground rule double to right center. Cousins then laid down a great bunt and advanced Omar to third. Buck would then strike out swinging but Greg Dobbs came in and extended his hitting steak with a deep shot into the seats. That gave the Fish a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 9th.

Heath Bell came on for the opportunity to close the game after Randy Choate opened the inning with a hit batter. Bell got Ryan Braun to bounce into his third double play of the game before allowing a single to Ramirez. Bell recovered and stuck out Cory Hart to end the game and split the series.

The Fish are 6-2 in their last 8 games and are playing pretty well. Carlos Lee made some great contributions to help the Fish get this victory. Hopefully this is a sign of good thing to come. On to St. Louie!
