The Miami Marlins are off to a good start to this month of July, and they will look to continue that as they begin a four-game road swing through Milwaukee to face the Brewers. This will be the first four-game set since late May against the San Francisco Giants, and hopefully the Marlins make it a successful one on their way to the All-Star break.

Tale of the Tape

Marlins Stat (Rank) Brewers
.304 (T-23) wOBA .318 (T-12)
87 (26) wRC+ 99 (T-10)
4.15 (21) ERA 4.17 (23)
3.81 (11) FIP 3.70 (5)

The Marlins and Brewers are actually in similar situations heading into this series, with both teams behind significantly in their divisions and underperforming their expectations. Their ERA and FIP show that the teams have both done decently on the mound but the results just have not turned out that way. The offensive matchup is similar to that of the Fish versus the Phillies, with the Marlins underperforming behind a great player and the Brewers playing well in part because of their top-flight outfielder.

Notes

- I spoke with Kyle Loebner over at SB Nation's excellent Brewers blog Brew Crew Ball, and he posted up our little series preview Q&A. The Fish and Brewers really are pretty similar in where they are right now.

Bold Prediction: Brewers def. Marlins 4-1
