#FishStripes: Off Target

Presswire

Featured in this week's #FishStripes: Shane Battier picks up a baseball instead of a basketball, and a fan gets a tattoo — but he missed the memo about something important that embodies the Marlins.

All Marlins fans would probably agree to throw away the June calendar and see July on the docket. Since it's a new month, all the negativity needs to go to the bottom of the beach.

Our Tweet of the Week comes from Marlins Minor Leaguer Corey Madden, who claims he made a bold prediction at the beginning of the season:

Madden is currently in Jacksonville (AA) and has a 2-1 record with a 2.61 ERA in 15 appearances for the Suns.

Our Play of the Week comes from our All-Star from Wednesday night when Giancarlo Stanton threw out David Freese in the 1st inning:

Stanton is the lone Marlin to swim upstream to Kansas City for the All-Star Game. He will be participating next Monday night in the Home Run Derby. Coming next week in FishStripes, we'll revisit some of Stanton's best shots over the wall from this season.

Here is Ozzie Guillen talking about @Giancarlo27_ making the Midsummer Classic roster:

Some of the most diehard fans like to pledge their allegiance to their favorite team in many different ways — one of those is via tattoo.

The only problem is that it's not of the correct logo. Get with the program, buddy.

The Marlins didn't seem to mind the logo mishap as they awarded him with a free personalized T-shirt as part of a league-wide Social Media Day.

The Heat celebration continued this week when Shane Battier visited Marlins Park:

Here's another Battier pic:

And then, Battier got to throw out the game's first pitch on June 30. Safe to say Battier had a good time.

One last tweet from the Marlins player group, and it's a simple one from Ricky Nolasco:

The Marlins are on the road this week in Milwaukee and St. Louis.
