Contrary to a report yesterday that a deal would not happen, the Miami Marlins have agreed to a signing bonus with left-hander Andrew Heaney worth $2.6 million, reports Jim Callis of Baseball America:
#Marlins, 1st-rder Andrew Heaney have agreed on $2.6 million. #OklahomaState LHP was most polished arm in #mlbdraft.

The ninth overall pick in the draft, Heaney's discussions with the Marlins allegedly halted yesterday because the team refused to pay the left-hander the allotted slot amount of $2.8 million. With the two sides coming to terms today, it seems that the Marlins' statements yesterday were merely a negotiation tactic, albeit a harsh one.
The 6' 2", 174-pound left-hander out of Oklahoma State went 8-2 with a 1.62 ERA over 15 starts for the Cowboys as a senior this season, striking out 140 batters in just 118 1/3 innings and tossing six complete games.
