Play of the Game: John Buck singled to right. Giancarlo Stanton and Greg Dobbs both scored. Emilio Bonifacio advances to third. This came in the forth inning (.130 WPA).

The Miami Marlins went out looking for a series split with the Pittsburgh Pirates Tuesday night. They got the sweep by winning the game by four runs. The Pirates beat the Marlins in game one 3-2 Monday night. The star in this one was Josh Johnson. He gets his first win in 13 months. Which is way too long for a staff ace. Omar Infante continued his hot start by collecting four hits.

Johnson Pitching Helps Team Win

Obviously JJ has gotten off to a rough start. And although he continues to tell us he is injury free, based on the number of base hits he has given up this season against the amount of innings pitched, who would think he was telling the truth? However, Johnson only gave up six hits in seven innings on Tuesday. He was especially good as the game went into the later innings. Johnson also collected six strikeouts. He actually said after the game that a key for him was relaxing and to "not muscle everything up." If you saw the game, you could tell easy that his best pitch all night was his curve ball. So for now, all is well. Johnson holds a lead, gives up a few hits, and only does it after 99 pitches. Hopefully he will take off from here.

Infante Raising Hitting Average

Omar Infante had his first four hit game as a Marlin, and he now is batting .325 on the season. He also drove in two runs. The ability for Infante to hit anywhere in the line up, and do it against right handers or left handers is starting to get noticed. Not only has he been the best Marlin at the plate after 36 games, its now to the point where he is doing it in so many ways. Game winning hit, check. Home run, check. Driving in runs, check. Bunt guys over, check. It is a great story. Again, here is a guy not many people were speaking of before the season started. He re-signed with the ball club before last season was over. So he never had a press conference or anything like that. Yet, he has gone about his business with professionalism, and the Marlins are fortunate he has carried them with the bat to this point.

Marlins Off to Atlanta

Wednesday night the Marlins and the Braves meet for the first time in 2012. The last two seasons the Marlins have not played well against their division foe. Plus, Atlanta has gotten off to a great start. While most of the NL East is playing great baseball, its the Braves under Fredi Gonzalez that have maintained at the top of the leader board. They already are plus 36 in run differential. Only team with a better mark in the National League is the Cardinals. The Marlins, in case you're wondering, are a plus three runs. Either way, let's hope the Fish sweep this short two game set in the ATL.
