Gaby Sanchez is the Marlins 2011 nominee for the Roberto Clemente award.
The Roberto Clemente Award is given annually to the Major League Baseball (MLB) player who "best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement and the individual's contribution to his team", as voted on by baseball fans and members of the media. It is named for Hall of Fame outfielder Roberto Clemente.
This is voted on by the fans, so your job is to vote for Gaby. And you can do it here:
While it is unlikely the Gaby will win it, no Marlin has, it doesn't mean we shouldn't try. Gaby fits all of the qualifications and would be a worthy recipient. So vote away.
One of these years it could happen, why not this one? The Marlins really do a good job of giving back to the local community and beyond. It has been one of the hallmarks of the organization and it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Though, I'm sure the players couldn't care less about recognition and are just trying to help anyway they can.
That said, being recognized wouldn't hurt either.
Vote Gaby.
