Dewayne Wise claimed off waivers by Toronto

New, comment

Dewayne Wise was claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed outfielder DeWayne Wise off waivers from the Florida Marlins

The left-handed hitter posted a .239 batting average with five RBI in 49 games for the Marlins this season.

Whatever makes the Blue Jays happy. Really there was no role for Wise with the Marlins, other than some strange pinch-running duties where he would stumble around long enough and end up being safe in the late innings. That said, he didn't do badly has a pinch-hitter in his 17 AB as one. His PH slash stats while with the Marlins were .294/.333/.353. But let's face it, he is a career .223/.261/.373 hitter and is well past his prime, assuming he had one.

Naturally we wish him the best in his third time to return to Toronto. It is one of may favorite cities in North America. But I do hope the baseball fans in that fair city aren't expecting big things from Mr. Wise, 'cause they just aren't going to happen.
