Marlins: Doubleheader on Saturday

The Marlins have another doubleheader now scheduled for Saturday, thanks Irene.

The Marlins' originally scheduled game against the Phillies in Philadelphia on Sunday has been moved to a day/night doubleheader Saturday due to the threat of severe weather from Hurricane Irene.

Game 1 will begin at 1:05 p.m. ET with Marlins right-hander Anibal Sanchez facing Philadelphia's Roy Halladay. The Marlins have yet to announce a Game 2 starter. Left-hander Cliff Lee will start for the Phillies in the nightcap, which is slated to begin at 7:05 p.m.

The reason the Marlins haven't named a starter is probably because they haven't called him up yet. Of course, they could go with one of their starter by committee classics or rush someone on short rest but I hope the latter doesn't happen at this point in the season. I'm getting tired of the injuries and it is just not worth it.

With there being a doubleheader on Saturday, that will make three doubleheaders within a six-day period. I'm all for old fashion baseball, but surely even in the 1800's they spaced them out better than this.
