John Sickles, our colleague, at Minor League Ball takes a second look at his preseason ratings of the Marlins prospects.
Florida Marlins 2011 Top 20 PRE-SEASON Prospects in Review
You should read the whole post, if for no other reason than to see how the young ones have progressed this season. But in the meantime I will highlight one for you.
19) Bryan Petersen OF, Grade C: .351/.434/.569 with 11 homers, 36 walks, 41 strikeouts in 248 at-bats for New Orleans. .224/.280/.328 in 67 major league at-bats, four walks, 13 strikeouts. Nothing left to prove in the minors.
Which is absolutely the case. Now, with him getting regular playing time, he is starting to prove he belongs in the Majors. Petersen's slash stats now stand at .280/.337/.452. Still a small sample size but I like the direction it is going.
Anyway, take a look at the list. You will be glad you did.
