2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft Starts Tonight

The 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft begins with the first and supplemental rounds tonight. On June 7 Rounds 2-30 will be selected followed by Rounds 31-50 on June 8.

The draft starts at 7 p.m. and the Marlins will be selecting 14th in the first round but do not have a supplemental pick as usual. Typically the Marlins favor selecting a High School pitcher in the first round but they don't always do so. The first round signing bonus and ability to sign the player play a big role in whom the Marlins select.

Since the Marlins will be selecting during tonight's game it shouldn't be much of a problem getting the information out when it happens. I'll be watching the draft along with the game and will announce the first pick in the game thread along with posting about our newest Marlin. This is all assuming I get home from work at a reasonable hour.

The draft will be covered live on the MLB Network with coverage starting at 6 p.m. Or if you want to follow along using the internet then go here:
