The Fish are in Seattle tonight to kick off a three-game "home" series at Safeco Field, and unless you are one of the several FishStripes faithful who made the long trek West, this series will feel about as homey as last year's "home" games in Puerto Rico. (Well, it may be feeling a little homey to the Fish, given that rain is currently falling in Seattle.)
Ricky Nolasco is on the hill for the Marlins, and that news may not excite you given his last several starts. Saturday against Tampa, Ricky gave up 5 runs and took his second loss in a row, and the Marlins have dropped all of his last five outings. He's never faced the Mariners, but hopefully the mountain air will bring out the best in Ricky. He's due for a win.
Felix Hernandez, who lost his last start against the Phillies, has the ball for the Mariners. Felix has faced the Marlins once, and beat them, back in 2008.
Because the Fish are "hosting" this series, games will be played under National League rules, and the Marlins will bat last. It should be a Fiesta Friday at the park, but no word yet on whether DJ Petey and Billy the Marlin made the trip. I think the more important question is, will the Mermaids be dancing on the Safeco dugouts? I hope they plan on layering those costumes. It's going to be a bit chilly this evening in the Emerald City.
Ichthyomancy is homesick, but what are you gonna do. Best of luck to you tonight!
