The Marlins are playing a day-night double header so there will be two distinct game threads. This one is for Game One. The Marlins are looking to even the series but given the way things are going recently, this won't be easy.
Elih Villanueva makes his Major League debut for the Marlins. Villanueva wasn't exactly knocking 'em dead in New Orleans when he got the call. In 13 starts he posted a 5.23 ERA while giving up 91 hits in 72.1 innings. Elih has talent, in fact he was the Co-Marlins Minor League pitcher of the year for 2010 while in Double-A. Since this is a spot start, no matter what he does, he will probably be optioned down to NOLA after the game. That said, hopefully he will shine.
Kyle Kendrick takes the hill for the Phillies. Kendrick is a recent addition to the Phillies rotation after spending most of the season in the pen. Think the Hopper or the Chief. He is really not stretched out so unless the Marlins do everything wrong, he won't go much past five innings. He throws a fastball (90 mph), cutter and change. His change is his best pitch but the cutter ain't bad.
I have no idea what the Marlins lineup is.
Ichthyomancy is looking for a win.
Best of Luck to You!
