The Marlins are in Philadelphia to play four games against the Phillies in three days. While most teams don't like going on the road, it may be a real blessing for the Marlins. The Fish have the best road record in the Majors, so a change of scenery may do them some good.

Chris Volstad gets the start tonight. Volstad pitched well in his last outing taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning. The wheels kinda off in the seventh but still he put up a respectable line: 6.2 innings, 3 runs, 6 hits and 7 strikeouts. While CBP hasn't always been kind to Chris, he has, in the past, worked around it. If his sinker is sinking and he can pound the strike zone with low pitches while keeping the ball in the park, he will keep the Marlins in the game.

Cole Hamels takes the mound for the Phillies. Hamels has simply been very, very good in his last three starts. He has gone at least 7 innings in each and only allowed a total of 3 runs while striking out 25. The lefty throws a fastball (92 mph), cutter, curve and change. And all of them are plus pitches. The Marlins have had some luck against him in the past, but I don't know how much stock I would put into that.

The Marlins starting lineup:

Hanley, SS
Boni, CF
LoMo, LF
Gaby, 1B
Stanton, RF
Buck, C
Infante, 2B
Helms, 3B
Volstad, P

Coghlan gets the night off, which is a little strange. True, he is not hitting lefties at all, but he is a career .412 hitter against Hamels with a 1.382 OPS.

Note: there is talk that JJ won't return until after the All-Star break and may be placed on the 60-day DL as early as after tonight's contest.

Ichthyomancy is in road warrior mode.

Best of Luck to You!
