Breakout the brooms S.Florida, the Marlins are going for the sweep! Getting the sweep may prove to be a little tricky. As you all know, contrary what it says above, JJ is not starting.
The Marlins starting pitcher is Jay Buente. This will be Buente's first start ever for the Marlins. He did make some relief appearances in 2010 throwing 11 innings allowing 16 H, 8 ER, 9 SO but his biggest problem was control, he walked 11. But that was then and this is now. In New Orleans they recently made him a stater and since becoming one he has made 5 starts for a 3-0 record and a 2.04 ERA. Buente is 27 years-old so this is his chance to shine and he really needs to. His last start was on May 14, so he should be well rested.
The Rays are sending James Shields to the hill. Shields is having a very good year so far this season. He took the loss in last start but it wasn't his fault. He went 7.1 innings giving up 4 hits, 2 earned runs while striking out 7. Shields throws a fastball (91.4 mph), cutter, curve and change. His change has been excellent this season. Shields pitches reasonably well in JRS.
The Marlins lineup will be announced later to day. I will include it if I get up in time before the game starts, there is no guarantee of that happening.
Ichthyomancy has its broom in hand.
Best of Luck to You!
