Clay Hensley recalled; Ozzie Martinez optioned to NOLA

After last night's game, the Marlins reinstated Clay Hensley off the DL and optioned Ozzie Martinez back to Triple-A New Orleans.

After Saturday's 5-3 win over the Rays, the team reinstated setup reliever Clay Hensley off the disabled list and optioned infielder Ozzie Martinez to Triple-A New Orleans.

Florida is now going with 13 pitchers and 12 position players. Manager Edwin Rodriguez said the team would monitor the roster day by day.

Going with 13 pitchers and 12 position players isn't a bad idea, especially with JJ moving to the DL. The extra arm may be needed.

Also the other good aspect about it is that it will get Ozzie some regular playing time. He is just too talented and too young to be wasting away on the pine in the Majors. Since he so rarely saw action it probably won't hamstring Edwin much to lose a position player. Edwin has shown he is willing to roll the dice in the late innings and play Brett Hayes, which some managers would never do with their backup catcher. Given that Hayes is an late inning option off the bench, I see no problem with going 12 position players.
