The first inning once again proved to be Javier Vazquez's achilles heel in the Marlins series finale in DC. Javy allowed six runs in the first, which equaled a deficit the Fish couldn't overcome, and they fell 8-4 to the Nats.
The Marlins scored four runs off of Jason Marquis. Mike Stanton hit a sac fly in the second to put the Fish on the board, and Brett Hayes took advantage of his start, contributing an RBI single to make it 6-2. In the seventh, RBI hits by Greg Dobbs and Chris Coghlan added two more runs to the Marlins' total, but it wasn't enough.
