After last night's game the Marlins sent Bryan Petersen and Steve Cishek back to the New Orleans Zephyrs.
...the Marlins optioned right-hander Steve Cishek and outfielder Bryan Petersen back to Class AAA New Orleans on Wednesday night after Florida's 5-3 loss to the Phillies.
Which means, Logan Morrison and Javier Vazquez will be activated off their respected list. LoMo off the DL and Javy off the bereavement list. Which will probably be announced on Friday.
The other clue in the process is that Edward Mujica is ready to to return to action. Since the Marlins are sending a reliever down.
Neither got a chance to see much action. Petersen only got five plate appearances, this time around, though while not getting a hit, he did score a run. Also, he showed a lot of speed on Tuesday running to first to avoid a double play. Petersen probably has a career in the majors in his future. Most likely he would be an average outfield bat, a decent fielder who has good speed. There is always some team somewhere who needs one of those. Unfortunately for him, the Marlins aren't that team. At least not yet.
Cishek wasn't up long enough for his cup of coffee to get cold.
But baseball is a long season and injuries happen so except both to make a showing once again in a Marlins uniform.
