The Marlins are going for the series win.
Josh Johnson is on the mound for the Marlins. JJ has been simply stellar this season but tonight will prove a test. Boy, he must hate pitching in Great American. Granted he has only made two starts there but, when you're averaging 3.1 innings per start and have a 8.10 ERA to show for your effort, it would make anyone hate it. However, that was then and this is now. JJ is a different pitcher now, not relying so much on his fastball, and he should keep the Reds hitters baffled for most of the night.
Edinson Volquez is the starter of record for the Reds. Volquez is still a hard thrower who changes speeds to cross-up hitters type of guy. However, he has been having issues with the command of his pitches. Especially early in the game. He is walking way too many batters and when he isn't doing that, he is giving up too many home runs. Sadly for the Marlins, he has shown some recent signs of getting it together. When Volquez is on, his fastball (94 mph), curve and change combination is quite lethal and he can strikeout a ton of batters. Also, the Marlins have never done well against him.
The Marlins lineup for tonight:
Coghlan, CF
Infante, 2B
Ramirez, SS
Gaby, 1B
Stanton, RF
Dobbs, 3B
Buck, C
Bonifacio, LF
JJ, P
Cogz is back in the lineup, so don't be surprised if the Reds test his arm tonight.
Ichthyomancy is pretending to be ready.
Best of Luck to You!
