I don't want to be overly dramatic and say something cheesy like, "today is the day that life begins again," but for those of us who can barely locate our pulse through the long, stale, baseball-less months of the offseason... well, it's at least the day that life starts to get exciting again.
Of course, quite a few Marlins have been in Jupiter for a while now, working out and getting a head start on spring training, but today they make it official, with pitchers and catchers reporting at 1 PM for the first formal workout of the spring.
Tomorrow's workout will begin at 3 PM to accommodate FanFest, and starting Sunday, workouts will begin at 10 AM daily, with the first full-squad workout on Tuesday the 22nd.
Spring Training is underway, folks. Before we know it, we'll be eating frozen lemonade, watching the grounds crew roll out the giant tarp for the ceremonial first rain delay of the 2011 Marlins season. Ah, baseball.
