Spring Is In the Air (And So Is Flotsam & Jetsam)

In just four little days, Marlins pitchers and catchers will report to Roger Dean Stadium and officially kick off the 2011 preseason. Naturally, as the players begin to descend on Jupiter, everybody and their cat is prognosticating about what will go down in Spring Training, and in the upcoming Marlins season.

Cue Flotsam & Jetsam:

  • According to Joe Frisaro, the team is ready for a fresh focus on pitching and defense in 2011. (Meaning, this year they hope to actually execute on the plan that they have in place every single season.)
  • JCR poses five questions the Marlins face as they head into spring training. "How do we give Bonifacio a season-ending injury and make it look like an accident?" surprisingly is not one of them.
  • Jayson Stark grades the offseasons of the NL East and gives the Fish a "B." Naturally, the Phillies had to go and ruin the curve for everybody.
  • And since its always good to keep an eye on the enemy, The Recliner GM previews the 2011 MarlinsHe couldn't manage to think outside the box and resist the urge to mention the Marlins' low attendance. Seriously. Let's come up with some new material, people.

Marlins baseball is so close, you can almost taste it. At the very least, its aroma is reaching the general vicinity of your nostrils.
