The AFL is underway

The Arizona Fall League has started and the Marlins players are on the Surprise Sagruaros.

To get some additional work, (Matt) Dominguez is currently taking part in the Arizona Fall League.

The Marlins have eight players on the Surprise Saguaros, along with Corey Hart, a Minor League hitting coach who is on the Arizona Fall League staff.

Also from the Marlins on the Saguaros are left-hander Dan Jennings, right-handers Alejandro Ramos, Evan Reed and Alex Sanabia, catcher Kyle Skipworth, outfielder Kevin Mattison and infielder Paul Gran.

Because of roster limitations, Gran is on the taxi squad, meaning he works out with the team but can only play in games on Wednesday and Saturday.

Saguaros opened on Wednesday with a 10-1 win over Scottsdale.

Normally the AFL is to showcase the young talent in organization. But at times it is used to get players extra playing time. Last year Mike Stanton was in the AFL until he hurt his back.

If you live in Arizona, I recommend checking it out. I'm told it is a blast. There are assistant GMs and scouts all over the place. They can usually be found at a local bar after the game(s).

If you would like to follow the young Marlins as they play Winter Ball, this link will get you started:
