Today's game is the makeup game for the August 8th rainout. From my understanding this game will not be on television, which is ok by me seeing how even if it was broadcast I couldn't see it since it is a workday day game.
The Marlins have lost six in-a-row, which is presently the longest losing streak in the National League. This really needs to end.
Chris Volstad takes the hill for the Marlins. The team really needs for Volstad to go at least relatively deep in the game. Which could be a problem since he hasn't pitched past the fifth in his last three starts. If Volstad holds true to his recent trend, the offense is going to need to score all the runs they can.
Chris Carpenter is on the mound for the Cardinals. Carpenter was very un-Carpenter like in his last two starts giving up 13 runs in 11.1 innings. However, he has always pitched well against the Marlins in JRS. In fact, the Cardinals as a whole play well in our stadium. And to top that off, the Marlins have a losing record in the home stadium this season. Time to reclaim the home park.
Ichthyomancy hates day games and this one is no exception.
Best of Luck to You!
