The Marlins are going for a rare four-game series win. To make it even more rare, they are going to try and do it at PNC. Folks, it doesn't happen often when the Marlins actually win a series in Pittsburgh, much less a four-game one at that. (I don't know that the Fish have ever won a four-game series there.) But this has been a strange year, so we have that going for us.
Alex Sanabia takes the mound for the Marlins. As you know, Sanabia is getting the start due to an injury to Sean West. All we can hope for is that the young Mr. Sanabia has his "A-game" going. If not, let's hope the bats are rocking tonight. Expect to see the bullpen rather early in the game.
Paul Maholm is on the hill for the Pirates. Maholm, like all Pirates pitchers, get very little run support when he takes the mound. But his season can't be blamed on run support alone. He has had several outings that were, really, not that good from a pitching standpoint. Mahlom is a soft-tossing lefty with a pretty decent slider and curve.
Game note: Hanley is not starting.
Ichthyomancy is looking for .500 again.
Best of Luck to You!
