It seems Rick VandenHurk is now a starter for the Orioles.
The Orioles today announced that they have placed RHP Jason Berken on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 13, with right shoulder inflammation. RHP Rick Vandenhurk has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to take Berken's place on the roster.

Acquired from the Florida Marlins in exchange for LHP Will Ohman on July 31, VandenHurk was 1-1 with a 2.18 ERA (20.2IP, 5ER) in three starts for the Tides.
Granted, VandenHurk has always killed in Triple-A, but I still don't like this trade. Sure Ohman, for the most part, has been good out of the pen for the Marlins and they did need another lefty because Tankersley is at best a bit iffy since he is allowing 34% of his inherited runners to score. However, Ohman will more than likely not be with the team next season due to what he will command in earnings. It is just that the Marlins parted ways with a promising young starter and got a rent-a-reliever in return in a season that doesn't look all that promising. Yeah, I know, we are bottlenecked in potential starters, but something about this doesn't sit well with me. Of course, it could be that I am selfish. (GameFish is not.) For I loved getting all the extra traffic and comments from the Netherlands back when he was a starter for the Marlins. The Dutch are a fun group of people.
Be that as it may. Naturally, we wish the Incredible Hurk the best.
