Ooh, it is Friday the 13th and you know what means: weird, scary stuff can happen. And what would be more weird than the Marlins extending their winning streak to five games. It would be a first for this season.
The Marlins are in OH-IO to take on the Cincinnati Dancing Pigs. The Dancing Pigs will be trying avoid losing their fourth in-a-row at home for the first time this season.
Josh Johnson is on the hill for the Marlins. JJ pitched well in his last outing, but, of course, the bullpen blew the save. JJ is slowly getting back into pre-ASG form and hopefully he will continue on that path tonight. Like all Marlins pitchers in this series, he will need to try and avoid the long ball. The GAP is a bandbox.
Edinson Volquez takes the mound for the Pigs. Volquez will be making his sixth start since coming off the DL for Tommy John surgery. His last two starts showed a lot to promise, but he still has some issues with his control. If you are a student of Volquez you will notice that he is using his curve more often this season than in the past and it has been his most effective pitch.
No, I'm not going to call the Reds the Dancing Pigs all series, that will end after tonight. But I couldn't resist doing it for this game. Don't ask me why.
Ichthyomancy is ready to roll.
Best of Luck to You!
