The Marlins next 12 games will be against teams from the American League. First up, the Rays. So let's get the Citrus Series underway. In the last two years, the Rays have pretty much owned the Marlins going 10--2 in games against the Fish. Not only that, the Rays have the best record in baseball to boot. It is time to return to the days of yore when the Marlins were king. The Marlins lead the series with an overall record of 34-21 against the Rays.
Anibal Sanchez takes the mound for the Marlins. In Anibal's last start he got roughed up a bit giving up 4 ER. But really, he wasn't bad, just a tad off. Hopefully tonight he will regain form and shut the Rays down. This will be his first start ever against the Rays.
James Shields is on the hill for the Rays. Shields enters the game in a bit of a funk, having lost his last three starts. And in the last two, he didn't pitch very well or at least not up to the standards he is capable of. With any luck, he will stay in his funk.
