The Marlins enter tonight's contest in sweep avoidance mode. The Marlins could easily be going for the sweep but for the lack of some timely pitching and hitting, they find themselves trying to make sure they don't get swept for the first time this season.
Ricky Nolasco is on the mound for the Marlins. In his last start, Ricky had one crappy outing for him. But that doesn't mean anything tonight. Nolasco has the stuff to shut any team down and when on, he is next to unhittable.
Matt Cain strides to the hill for the Giants. In the past, the Marlins haven't had much luck against Cain, in fact, we have yet to tag him with a loss. Cain pitched beauty in his last start but he did throw 123 pitches in the effort, so maybe that will negatively effect him tonight. Here's hoping.
Coghlan will lead off tonight. Maybe that will be the key to getting him going. Chris has the lowest OBP of any everyday hitter in the Majors. With Maybin leading the league in strikeouts and Coghlan not getting on base, it is making scoring runs a bit more difficult. CC hasn't forgotten how to hit, and it will come in time, but the sooner the better.
Ichthyomancy is kinda sorta ready.
Best of Luck to You!
