The Marlins are looking to turn back into the ways of old, meaning lose the first game of the series and win the next two. Or at least we are hoping that is what they are doing.
Chris Volstad takes the mound for the Marlins. Volstad had some hard luck in last start. His buddies kept messing up on defense requiring him to get extra outs in some of the innings he pitched. They also couldn't be bothered with scoring more than one run. This will be first time Volstad has faced the White Sox and maybe that will help. But then again, it didn't help Ricky. If Volstad can get his sinker working and the infield defense will actually field the balls put into play, he should be fine. That is, as long as he keeps the ball in the park.
Gavin Floyd in on the hill for White Sox. Floyd has simply been awful this season. If you don't believe me, ask GameFish, he is on her fantasy team. But the fact that he hasn't gotten anything together has no bearing on today's game. It always seems that pitchers who are struggling somehow pull it all together against the Fish. He is the usual fast ball, slider, curve, change pitcher. His 78 mph curve has been his most effective pitch this season.
Folks, today's game is a day game. Boooooo. But at least it will be warmer.
Ichthyomancy hates waking up early on Saturdays. And yes, 2:05 p.m. is waking early.
Best of Luck to You!
