The Marlins are in Chicago to kick off interleague play with a three-game series against the White Sox. Interleague play has typically been very kind to the Marlins, and hopefully they can keep the tradition going this season.
It's the first time in three years that the teams have faced each other, but their last two meetings (2004 and 2007) went favorably for the Fish, who took two out of three each series.
Tonight's contest features a match-up of pitchers who have never faced the other team. Ricky Nolasco takes the hill for Florida, and Mark Buehrle will make the start for the White Sox.
Since we're playing by American League rules tonight, Ricky won't be hitting. Uncle Wes will make the start at third, and Cantu will serve as the DH.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate. It will be a chilly, possibly wet night at US Cellular Field, and as Chris Coghlan lamented via twitter earlier today, "How come both times we come to Chicago it has to rain?" While rain should make the Marlins feel right at home, cold weather is another story.
Ichthyomancy is ready to get its interleague play on.
