After tossing three scoreless innings against the Nationals Friday night, Clay Hensley found out that his father had passed away unexpectedly. Clay is being placed on the bereavement list, and the Marlins have called up LHP Hunter Jones from AAA New Orleans to take his spot on the roster.
Left-hander Hunter Jones will join the Marlins today but his stay could be a short one.
Jones, who grew up in Palm Beach Gardens, was called up from Class AAA New Orleans to take the spot of Clay Hensley, who is headed to the bereavement list following the unexpected death of his father on Friday.
Jones came to the Marlins over the in winter from the Red Sox in the Jeremy Hermida trade. He’s 0-1 with a 3.22 ERA in four starts four New Orleans. He has struck out 15 and walked eight in 22 1/3 innings.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Clay Hensley and his family.
