Ronny Paulino will likely miss tonight's game.
Catcher Ronny Paulino remained out of the starting lineup Wednesday because of a tight right quad. But manager Fredi Gonzalez is hopeful that Paulino will be available to start Friday and Sunday in Colorado. The Rockies are scheduled to send out left-handers Greg Smith and Jorge De La Rosa on those days.
Paulino has played just once over the past eight days.
The Astros will have a righ-handed pitcher starting tonight, so missing tonight is no big deal. But it would really be nice to have his bat back in the lineup to face the lefties. So far this season Paulino is hitting .462/.462/.846 against left-handed pitching. Whereas John Baker is only hitting .250/.250/.250 against southpaws. Granted, Baker has had only two at bats against them, but he traditionally doesn't hit them well. For his major league career his slash numbers are: .198/.311/.314 and that is not the stuff dreams are made of. So hopefully Ronny will be ready to go when we get to the mile high city.
