Some of the saddest words I can type are the ones I'm about to: the Marlins season will end today.

If the Marlins win they will have a winning record at home, and if they should do so the Pirates will match the '63 Mets for the worse road record in baseball since 162 games have been played. In case you were wondering, the record is 16-74. The Pirates presently stand at 16-73.

Anibal Sanchez takes the hill for the Marlins. Anibal is starting to look a little bit weary as the season closes. And for good reason, he has thrown a ton more innings this year than he did in his previous two seasons. But Anibal is a fighter and I'm figuring he will go all out in the Marlins final game. Also there is the fact that Anibal does his best work at home and during the day.

Brian Burres is on the mound for the Pirates. Burres is a mixed bag, sometimes he is kinda good and at other times, not so much. The lefty is a four pitch pitcher: fastball, slider, curve and change. But none of them are anything to write home about. He normally does his best work at night in PNC. Neither of those conditions will take place in today's game. However, should he get the win, he will be the only pitcher on the Pirates staff to post a winning record for this season.

Ichthyomancy will crown a Champion Today. Judging by the present standings, we will probably see our first repeat champion ever. That is unless a dark horse comes from behind. It could happen. Let's say you are 100 points behind all you have to do is pick a 101 things to go right. While that is doubtful you will be able to pull it off, it could happen. It's in the rules.

Best of Luck to You!
