Marlins prospects in the AFL

The Arizona Fall League has just started and this year the Marlins prospects are playing for the Phoenix Desert Dogs.  Along with the prospects of the Braves, Dodgers, Yankees and Athletics.  The seasons goes from October 12 to November 20.

The AFL is the showcase of young talent from every club and most of the GMs, assistant GMs, scouts are in attendance to checkout the talent.  It is where the Marlins became very aware of Dan Uggla's hitting talents and then drafted him in the Rule 5 draft.

The Phoenix Desert Dogs manager is Don "Still learning how many trips he can make to the mound" Mattingly.

The Marlins prospects taking part in the fall classic are: Peter Andrelczyk, Steve Cishek, Kris Harvey, Sean West, Kyle Skipworth, Ryan Curry and Osvaldo Martinez.

West and Ozzie, will not be playing winter ball this season.  While this has nothing to do with the AFL, Anibal Sanchez will not be allowed to play winter ball this season either.  Good.

Anyway, if you happen to be in the Phoenix area, you should take-in a couple of games at least.  I am told it is a lot of fun.
